Church Signs!
Let me start by saying, there is a church for everyone. Most churches do things different, and that is ok most of the time. Since I live in the south there is a church on every corner. Most of these are traditional churchs that have signs out in front. Unfortunatly, the wrong people are in charge of putting the words on these signs. There are several in our area that put quotes, or sayings on their signs. Some actually make you stop and think. Then there are the ones that make you want to walk in and punch someone. I am a pretty calm guy, but when I read this particular sign tonight, I felt this way. The sign read, abortion kills a beating heart. Well, that is obvious. Why in the world would you put this on a sign that thousands of non-christians see everyday. This is not going to make them stop having abortions. This is probably just going to push a person further from God. Non-christians already think christians are judgmental and out of date. These signs with stupid sayings on them only confirm this. I can’t imagine the time and effort that goes into finding these quotes, then the time it takes to put these up. So much wasted time. Why not reach out to the community by putting on the sign what is actually going on in these churches. Why not say what time church starts. Why not take that time spend putting these quotes on the sign and actually stop hiding behind a sign and tell someone who needs Jesus that he loves them no matter what. He loves them even though they messed up. He loves them even when they have had an abortion. Sorry had to get that off my chest.
